Forum for Gender Competence in Architecture | Landscape | Planning
- IS an interdisciplinary platform at the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape Architecture of Leibniz Universität Hannover composed of women and men who are active in the science and/or practice of spatial planning and design disciplines.
- COOPERATES with other universities and relevant public and private institutions seeking national and international cooperation and networking.
- AIMS to bundle gender competence in the planning, design and construction disciplines as a national focal point at the Hannover location and to disseminate it by research, teaching and transfer.
The phase of foundation from 2008 to 2010 was made possible by start-up financing from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK).
Since 2011, gender_archland has been organised as the section of GenderCompetence in Architecture Landscape Planning in the Leibniz University Society Hannover e.V., and since 2014 it has been a member of the state working group of institutions for women's and gender studies in Lower Saxony LAGEN.
With the retirement of the founder and long-time chairwoman in March 2019, the framework conditions for the gender_archland research and networking platform have changed. Sooner or later it will have to say goodbye to the Faculty of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. Efforts to dock the platform in a new form at other institutional locations are underway, but not yet completed. We will report here in due course.
